SP ENW - Social DSO - Projects (Mapped to Indices of Multiple Deprivation)
Dataset using postcode location data to depict Social DSO projects supported through the SP ENW Social DSO Fund and their relationship to local levels of socioeconomic deprivation.
Social DSO (Social Distribution System Operator) is SP ENW's approach to ensuring the benefits of the energy transition are shared fairly across all communities. As the energy system changes, some households and communities face a greater risk of being left behind due to factors such as low income, fuel poverty, poor housing, digital exclusion, age, health conditions, or other vulnerabilities. Social DSO seeks to identify and address these challenges by supporting projects that help people participate in and benefit from the transition to a low carbon future.
The SP ENW Social DSO Fund provides funding to community organisations, charities, local authorities and other partners to deliver projects that improve energy affordability, increase access to low carbon technologies, build community resilience, and support vulnerable customers.
This dataset maps funded projects using their postcode location and overlays them with relevant Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) data. The purpose of the map is not only to show where projects have been delivered, but also to provide insight into the distributional impact of the fund by illustrating how investment is reaching communities that may be at greater risk of being left behind during the energy transition.
The map includes projects that have been completed and those currently in progress, providing a visual representation of how SP ENW's Social DSO funding is supporting communities across the licence area and contributing to a fair and inclusive transition to net zero.
Locations are based on postcode information provided for each project and are intended to give an indication of project distribution rather than precise site locations.
